Getting Here

Without a single U-turn

5 minutes from State Highway 1 · 1 hour from Palmerston North · 2½ hours from Wellington.

We’re so secluded, even Google can’t quite find us. Maps may insist our entrance is on the opposite side of the river, it isn’t. Trust the directions below over the pin, and you’ll arrive without a single U-turn.

If travelling along State Highway 1, take Vinegar Hills Road turn-off.

Then take the Cooks Road turn off, which is 20m from junction between SH1 and SH54 (Vinegar Hills).

Once on Cooks Road, follow Rathmoy signs.

Questions, answered

  • Each accommodation has its own entrance, private setting and designated guest areas, and the Riverside Lodge and Farmhouse may occasionally host separate groups at the same time.

    Farmhouse guests are asked not to access the lodge riverfront area, which is reserved for lodge guests.

    We respect every group’s privacy wherever possible, and Rathmoy remains an active working sheep and beef farm throughout your stay.

  • Definitely! The Riverside lodge and The Farmhouse kitchen are both fully equipped with cookware, bakeware, utensils and the basics: olive oil, salt, pepper.

  • Yes! Great options nearby include Relish Café, Argyle Hunterville and Moomaa towards Marton.

    Make sure to stop into Honest Wolf in Hunterville, a designer bag and accessory brand. For antiques and vintage finds, browse Goldie’s Junk ‘n Disorderly.

    Taylor’s 1998 stocks everyday essentials, is the closest liquor store and serves real fruit ice cream. Larger supermarkets can be found in Marton and Taihape.

  • We’re located just 5 minutes away from SH1.

  • Yes, well-behaved pets are welcome, because we believe they are part of the family. We allow up to three pets.

    Pets are not allowed in carpeted areas, and additional charges may apply if any damage occurs or extra cleaning is required.

  • Check in from 3pm; check out by 11am. Later check-out can be arranged before your stay, subject to availability.

  • Wi-Fi is free throughout. Cell reception can be patchy on the estate, but Wi-Fi calling works well, Spark tends to get signal.

  • A washing machine and dryer are available to guests staying at the Riverside Lodge, handy after a day exploring the property, or on a longer stay.
